The booking thread: one conversation, in writing
The booking thread is the written conversation where your booking is made: your message, the reply, your yes and any change after it.
A thread is a line of messages on one subject, one after the other. For a booking, it starts with your first message and holds everything after it. Nothing about the booking happens outside it.
Why writing helps
Writing can be read twice. A spoken hour can be misheard, but a written 21:30 cannot. A figure in writing can be checked, copied and translated. For a guest whose English is a second language, a thread is easier than a call, because you can read slowly and use a translation app. You never have to speak on the phone.
What it holds
- Your first message, with the address, day, hour, length and names.
- The reply, with who is free, the price and the window.
- Your confirmation.
- The deposit figure and payment details, if a deposit applies.
- Any change: a new room number, a move of date, or a cancel.
Keep it in one place
Write every change in the same thread, not in a new one. Then the whole booking can be read from start to end. The message to copy is a good first entry.
